All PLT workshops have great activities that help you accomplish
curricular goals in meaningful ways, and are offered for professional education credit. Special topic workshops focus on specific topics. There is no prerequisite for these workshops. You'll want to take them all!

General PLT workshops focus on trees, forests and fire ecology, and on using PLT environmental education activities to accomplish a variety of curricular goals. See PLT in action.

Focus on Communities workshops (NEW!). In this new workshop, we’ll explore the places we live--past, present and future. We’ll do activities from the new & improved PLT PreK-8th Activity Guide, and also premiere the newest PLT high school module, "The Places We Live."
Join us to learn more about your community by investigating its history, to look at changes over time, and to consider its future.

Natural Resources and Solid Waste workshops focus on where stuff comes from, where it ends up, and what happens to it inbetween. Topics: Renewable and nonrenewable resources, recycling, compost, landfills, energy and more. See PLT in action.

ABOUT ..............................
is an award-winning, interdisciplinary environmental education program for educators working with students in PreK through grade 12. PLT helps students gain awareness and knowledge of the natural and built environment, their place within it, and their responsibility for it.
Project Learning Tree continues to set the standard for environmental education excellence at the elementary, middle and secondary levels. PLT increases students' understanding of our complex environment. PLT is designed to teach students how to think, not what to think about environmental issues.
Crafted to meet state and national standards, PLT provides all the tools educators need to bring the environment into their classrooms–and their students into the environment. Whether it's the natural or built environment, over 200,000 educators already turn to PLT to teach about topics from forests, wildlife and water, to community planning, waste management and energy.

THE CURRICULUM ..............................
's mission is to increase students' understanding of our environment; stimulate students' critical and creative thinking; develop students' ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues; and instill in students the commitment to take responsible action on behalf of the environment.
's goals are to develop students' awareness, appreciation, understanding, skills, and commitment to address environmental issues; to provide a framework for students to apply scientific processes and higher order thinking skills to resolve environmental problems; to increase appreciation and tolerance of diverse viewpoints on environmental issues; to stimulate creativity, originality, and flexibility to resolve environmental problems and issues; and to encourage students to become responsible, productive, and participatory members of society.
offers exciting and challenging interdisciplinary, action-oriented activities that focus on the total environment -- land, air and water. PLT's lessons are designed to develop critical thinking skills and teach students "how" to think about complex environmental issues, not "what" to think.
provides ready-made lessons and activities that can be incorporated into busy classrooms, nature centers, museums, and scout troops. The activities require minimal preparation and little, if any, equipment.
activities guide the learner through a process that begins with awareness, moves them towards knowledge, enables them to challenge preconceived ideas, and motivates them to seek constructive avenues for environmental action.
All activities center around five major themes from the PLT Conceptual Framework. These themes are integrated into both the PreK-8 curriculum and the secondary curriculum.
Activities within the Diversity theme illustrate a wide array of habitats, societies, technologies, and cultures.
The theme Interrelationships includes activities that highlight ecological, technological, and social-cultural systems as interactive and interdependent.
The theme Systems, encompasses activities that show the connection between environmental, technological, and social systems.
Structure and Scale activities demonstrate how technologies, societal institutions, and components of natural and human-built environments vary.
The theme, Patterns of Change, explores the change of structures and systems over time.
THE PreK-12 CURRICULUM IS:
